Must see · Mountain · Nature / Park
Perched upon Mount Desert Island in one of Maine's most popular parks, Cadillac Mountain is replete with hiking trails and scenery. The mountain, standing 470 m (1,528 ft) high, is one of the tallest on the United States' eastern seaboard. Here, you can get a glimpse of distant Canadian Nova Scotia in clear weather. You can either hike or drive the 5.6 km (3.5 mi) long road to the summit, which features views of the Porcupine Islands and ocean. Multiple viewing points and pullout spots are available along the way. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the park's signature granite slabs and rock formations rising from the ground.
