  • Twice a year WSMR opens its doors to the Trinity site. The Army soldiers and volunteers did an excellent job of directing folks to the site and parking. We had no problem entering the Stallion gate...

  • The gate opens at 8 AM. I got there at 5 AM and was the second car in line. (Another year, someone said they arrived at 4 to be near the start.) Unless you're absolutely allergic to getting up early.....  more

  • Great experience. Make sure you research the history on it prior to the visit to better appreciate it all. They have people there to explain various history or scientific facts for you but it gets VERY busy so at some point you may get lost in the crowds. They had one food stand and one souvenirs stand. Get in very early, do the Mcdonald Ranch tour first, bring real ID, bring water, bring a camping chair and shade.
  • I was surprised how many people were at this site. I thought I was the only nerd. Anyway, it's only open one day in April, and one day in October, and there's two ways to get in. #1 is the caravan from Tularosa on the south side, #2 is the north Stallion entrance. Pro tip: the caravan is nice, you see the whole White Sands Range. But you can come and go as you please from the stallion entrance anytime during the day.
