Follow the development of the United States' missile programs at White Sands Missle Range Museum, site of the first atomic bomb test and today home to a collection of historical missile models. Explore the museum's collection of indoor exhibits featuring missile motors, important technology, tools used in the construction process, and more. Don't miss the section detailing the many scientists and engineers who helped make these programs a reality. Afterward, head outside to view the extensive display of missiles once tested here. Keep in mind that the range is still an active military facility and you'll need a security pass to enter. This requires presenting your driver's license and, if coming by car, vehicle registration. • It’s a small museum and it’s outdoors, but it does have really good pieces with information to show the evolution of our military and space programs missiles/rockets.

  • We went late afternoon on a Tuesday. The museum itself is closed but you can still have a great time walking through the different missiles in the park. Stop at the WSMB visitors center with your ID.....  more

  • Amazing people at reception there. Very friendly, fast process, in and out in notime. And a spectacular mountain scenery is a plus.
  • WSMR is not open to the public but the White Sands are amazing!!! Take a snow sled & some wax for the bottom of it. You will fly down the slopes, it is so fun!!! Growing up here we would take a picnic basket full of fried chicken & some potato salad for after sledding. Nancy site is a restricted area for missile testing. They will shoot you if you try to go in there.
