The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a world-renowned attraction and destination for kids of all ages. For more than three decades, the first week in October brings the smell of roasting chiles and the beautiful, magical moving picture show of hot air balloons sailing silently through the crisp fall air.

Guests from all over the world come to Albuquerque to celebrate ballooning. Literally hundreds of balloons will be taking flight from the Balloon Fiesta Park this year.

From its modest beginnings in 1972 with 13 balloons launching from a shopping mall parking lot, the Balloon Fiesta has grown to multiple events launching year-round at the custom-designed, 365-acre Balloon Fiesta Park. Our signature event remains Balloon Fiesta—which, with 700 balloons, is the largest ballooning event on earth, the most photographed event on earth, and the largest annual international event held in the United States.

Balloon Fiesta Park is located in Albuquerque, NM north of Alameda Boulevard, one mile west of I-25.

  • I was very skeptical about going to Ballon Fiesta because of the massive amount of people that attend. I was very surprised how well everything went. It is definitely a great event to see in person....  more »
  • This is my favorite activity/festival in the U.S. I have been twice and will return this year also. On our first visit, we bought general admission tickets, and while we loved seeing the balloons, it....  more »
  • Get ready for a world-class event. Leave early to get to the park...4am but I'm a die hard. The week-long events are worth the effort to get there, not just Special Shapes and weekend mass ascensions. If you have the time to volunteer, give it a try (sign up on-line.) Lots of perks and wonderful people.
  • Quite the amazing event held the first week in October. Hundreds of hot air balloons drift over our City every day. This must-see event starts every morning before the sun comes up and can be seen free at the Balloon Fiesta Field. Balloonists from all over the world attend this event, bringing their balloons with them. If you come you will see the hundreds of special shape balloons: The huge cow, the pair of bees, the stagecoach; every imaginable shape. To close the event most balloonists fill their envelopes, remain on the ground, creating a spectacular glow.
