As one of Albuquerque’s last remaining local, independent bookstores, we pride ourselves on supporting our community and putting books and readers together. We host more than 400 in-store, out-of-store, and kids’ events per year, showcasing the work of major nationally-known authors and locally-published authors alike.Add Bookworks to your Albuquerque travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Albuquerque trip maker tool.
We carry new non-fiction and general fiction, local authors, young adult and children's books, New Mexico & Southwest travel, photography, and art books, magazines, and newspapers. If we do not have a book in stock, chances are we can fill your order for pick-up within a few business days.
We also now carry a gently used section and buy used books on Monday from 1-5 pm. Please call for an appointment.
As a locally-owned small business, we pay taxes that support our community, pay wages and give benefits to our employees (who are your friends and neighbors), donate money and books to local nonprofits, support our local libraries, and give back to our community however we can, whenever we can.
Bookworks is located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW, next door to Flying Star. We are just north of Griegos on the east side of Rio Grande Blvd. From I-40: Take the Rio Grande exit north several miles past Griegos. From I-25, exit Commanche (which turns to Griegos) and proceed west several miles until taking a right on Rio Grande.

In all likelihood a regular customer may have an easy time navigating the selection, but as a first time shopper I had perused their website and it had indicated that several children's books were in stock in the store. When I went in, the Children's books had seemingly no categorical order (such as by age group, subject, etc). I wasn't able to find any of my interests at the time and left without making a purchase.
I love to order my books here, and just shop.
