Open Space Visitor Center, Albuquerque

This facility offers the public information and resources on the city of Albuquerque Open Space program. Renovations of the facility were completed in September 2006. The Visitor Center has exhibits interpreting the amazing natural and cultural resources the Open Space Division protects. It also features an art gallery, agricultural fields that draw a variety of wildlife, and stunning views of the Sandia Mountains.

The Open Space Visitor Center also offers comfortable indoor and outdoor viewing areas where you can watch Sandhill cranes and other migratory birds during their fall and winter migratory season.

  • Educational center includes various rooms dedicated to arts and crafts of America natives, educational exhibits and wildlife viewing. Great source of local information.  more »
  • It's easy to park here and walk or bike the flat cinder trails along the canal. You can follow them a long way and veer off to sand trails that lead to the Rio Grande River. Very relaxing.  more »

  • Super neat! So glad we have something like this in our city to educate people on the unique climate that is Albuquerque. Our plants, wildlife and water are beautiful and essential.
