Create an itinerary including Boldt Castle and Yacht House
Nestled on an island of the St. Lawrence River, Boldt Castle and Yacht House tells a tragic story of a wealthy couple who never got to live in their lavish estate. Straddling the border between the United States and Canada, the castle came to life in 1900, constructed by millionaire George C. Boldt (owner of the famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City). It was cancelled in 1904 due to the sudden death of his wife, but construction eventually resumed in 1977. Today you can see some incomplete and some finished rooms, a basement with a swimming pool and bowling lanes, hallways with pictures and artifacts, and a collection of wooden boats. Learn about how electricity was obtained in the early 20th century. Take a guided tour and explore the surrounding grounds. • Boldt Castle is absolutely beautiful. The restoration has been underway for years and there still remains more work to be done.

  • This was the first time to visit the area coming from the south US and going into Canada. Getting the tickets was quick but a bit complicated on which one to get. The girl at the window was good to help us out understand the differences. The boat ride was quick and smooth. The island itself was gorgeous. My family and I spent 1 hour there and it was too short. You can spend the entire day until 5 or so for the same price. The building are gorgeous and the history very interesting. I definitely recommend doing this and spend more than just one hour here.
  • This place was so amazing! The castle is being restored and much has, but there are rooms that they have left to show the progress, which is very interesting. Boat tour over was fun as well, lots of cool things to see... Highly recommend this one to see while in the area.
