Carhenge is a replica of England's Stonehenge located near the city of Alliance, Nebraska, in the High Plains region of the United States. Instead of being built with large standing stones, as is the case with the original Stonehenge, Carhenge is formed from vintage American automobiles, all covered with gray spray paint. Built by Jim Reinders, it was dedicated at the June 1987 summer solstice. In 2006, a visitor center was constructed to serve the site.

  • Fun stop driving through area. I could not find a donation box to leave a token of our appreciation. Thank you for sharing your art. Parking lot has room for RVs and while we were there a semi...

  • What a unique experience...and just a little off the beaten path.
  • A Nebraskan man who worked as a petroleum engineer in England had a vision to recreate Stonehenge near his hometown of Alliance. But he didn't have the stones to do it! Fortunately, junkers were plentiful in the area. Since then, the star-aligned roadsters have been a major roadside attraction. Some people may be taken aback by graffiti on the surrounding artwork, although I think it adds character.
