  • An impressive place. Beautiful views of the surrounding terrain. Visitors center is clean, well maintained, and staffed by a volunteer. Restrooms are available. The road to the cross winds through wooded countryside. There is an access to the River to River Trail (Godwin Trailhead) about two miles before reaching the cross itself. That section of the trail goes all the way to LaRue Pine Hills near the Mississippi River.
  • It's always fun driving to Bald Knob Cross because of the winding roads and the beautiful views. There's a tiny park on a bluff along the way with amazing scenery. The cross has been renovated since I was there last. It looks like it was constructed the other day. Make sure you stop in at the Root Beer Saloon in downtown Alto Pass before or after the drive. It's one of a kind and has great root beer floats.
