  • Definitely an interesting and one of a kind experience. Owners and staff were great, very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed all the shops in this interesting and beautiful old building...

  • Visited for the first time with my little sister this past weekend! Absolutely awesome! The entry fee was only $5 and the owner is super cool, and friendly. Amazing history, and artifacts. If you’re interested in the strange, and bizarre I definitely recommend it, and I certainly plan on returning. If you are exploring Alton, I’d recommend stopping here. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, and never get tired of the most haunted small town in America! I’ve got a list of places I visit often around here, and mineral springs has always been on that list, but now specifically the soul asylum is in with it. Absolutely love it! I would also kindly ask that you, are respectful of the owner, any staff. Please ask before taking photos. I know we all want the best Instagram stories, but don’t be rude.
  • I visited here this past Sunday for the first time. It was my birthday but my grandma had passed away the night before. I lost all hope for any enjoyment on this birthday, as I was finding it impossible to even crack a smile. I decided to drive to Alton from the STL area, since some of my favorite places are there. It seems that every time I visit Alton, it happens to be a weekday, so I was glad to finally get to go to the museum since it’s only open on weekends. I visited with my best friend, and Dave (the owner) was immediately so warm, friendly, and welcoming. He gave us such a personal experience and I learned so much from talking to him. He is a fascinating person and has an awesome collection that is absolutely worth $5 to see. I love anything weird and haunted, plus I’m very interested in history, so this place is perfect for me. I spent hours here! Going through the museum and hearing Dave’s stories really took my mind off of everything and brought a huge smile to my face. So moral of the story is, this museum is so great that you will enjoy yourself even when your grandma just died.
