  • Being western riders, any western outfitter was a must for us. Cavender's in Amarillo hat very friendly staff, and we ended up buying much more than we actually wanted - as usual ;-) Huge selection fo...  more »
  • This big Western shop is also rare in the United States. There are plenty of boots and hats in particular, and I have to worry about which one to buy, such as apparel and belts!

  • Too expensive for my checkbook but the employees here at Cavender's were more than welcoming when my boyfriend and I came in late one evening on our great American road trip. We had checked the closing time but with the time change we drove through, we were wrong and technically came in as they closed. The employees still seemed more than happy to help answer any questions we had and were happy to shower affection on my beagle.
  • All about commission not customer service. We stopped in to do some boot shopping for my husband. My husband tried on probably 15 different boots, they do have a great selection. We asked the salesman for some help finding a pair for my husband's foot shape. The only recommendation he gave was for some Anderson Beans that fit well but the stitching above the front toe was crooked and way off to one side, my husband pointed it out to the salesman and asked if they had another pair, to which the salesman responded that he also noticed it was crooked and said they didn't have another pair he'd ask his manager what he thought and took the boots to his manager. He returned and without saying anything just put the boot back on the shelf, I guess they decided they'd just sell them to someone who didn't notice how crooked and off the stitching was. Meanwhile whiles browsing the women's clothes I encountered two employees complaining about another employee "stealing" their customers for commission, but neither offered me any assistance. We decided to go check out American Boot Company, just across the interstate. We were blown away by our experience. The owner, who hand makes all of the boots spent close to an hour helping my husband find the right boots for his feet, even after finding boots my husband liked he wanted to make sure that he tried on all the options so he was getting the best possible boots. We ended up saving close to $150 compared to the Anderson Beans and the boots felt better and were flawless in appearance. So I guess Cavendars helped us find a new place to buy boots for the whole family.
