  • As a heritage center this place is overflowing with history, artifacts, displays and a passionate and knowledgeable staff. During a recent trip on the Memorial Day weekend the wife and I made a stop to see what we could learn and experience. Inside is plenty of artwork that can be purchased, tours, and a more hands on scouting exhibit. When you enter you are greeted by a dance hall which has seating and plenty of plains art, totems, and other regalia. From there, as you move through the exhibits, and display cases, there is plenty of information on things that we may recognize from movies or television: head dresses, weapons, masks and other sorts but help you realize what tribes they represent, and their importance. In fact during my visits there were some First Nation folks there to gather more about their history. If you have visited History of the plains museum in Rapid City, you will love this place too.
  • Absolutely recommend! Looks closed when they have posted 'open' hours so don't worry if the parking lot is empty..they are open! Art enthusiasts, history buffs, educational opportunists will love this place. Spent an hour there and felt like I just grazed the surface of the depth and unique details this place has to offer. Really enjoyed my visit and plan to go again. Free entry, bathroom facilities, wheelchair accessible, knowledgeable volunteers.
