Timpanogos Cave National Monument is a United States National Monument protecting the Timpanogos Cave Historic District and a

cave system on Mount Timpanogos in American Fork Canyon in the Wasatch Range, near Highland, Utah, in the United States. The site is managed by the National Park Service. The 1.5-mile (2.4 km) trail to the cave is steep, gaining close to 1,000 feet (300 m), but paved and fairly wide, making the caves accessible to most. The three caves of the system, one of which is specifically called Timpanogos Cave, are only viewable on guided tours when the monument is open, usually from May through September depending on snow conditions and funding. There is the standard tour going through the cave system, and an Introduction to Caving tour which teaches Leave No Trace caving and goes further into Hansen Cave.

  • Absolutely beautiful drive, up to the visitor's center. While we didn't go to the caves, the views throughout the area were gorgeous.

  • Fairly challenging hike to the top, but the views are well worth it... even if you don't make it to the caves themselves. While there is elevation and incline to give you a work out, the trail...

  • A Northern Utah favorite. The beautiful drive up American Fork Canyon gets you psyched for the hike. Cool mountain air, the scent of pine trees, the sound of rushing water in the nearby creek greet you as you reach the ranger center near the trail head. You take a look up the mountain, and think to yourself, "That is a lot steeper than I thought!" And when you actually start hiking, your realize it can be a bit of a challenge. But don't worry, if you are moderately fit, you get to the cave entrance in time for your tour and not be too worn out. It is definitely worth the hike. Beautiful cave, great ranger guides, wonderful experience. And the bonus? After all the hiking, then the walking through the cold cave, it is all downhill to the parking lot! Just make sure you use the restroom before heading up the mountain!
  • Really amazing caves, awesome hike with views, and a guided tour for $12!! Go and you'll love it. The park rangers are friendly and helpful! The caves are a bit narrow in spots so be sure to be able to traverse narrow spaces before you go! This monument is just awesome! Go see it!!!
