The Alaska Museum of Science and Nature is dedicated to the education and exploration of our natural and scientific world.

The museum’s exhibits, education programs and collections help bridge the gap between scientists and anyone curious about our natural world.

We educate and inspire all Alaskans in the areas of paleontology, geology, archeology, zoology, ornithology, botany, and climatology through exhibits and hands on learning.

We serve minority and at-risk children in primary and secondary schools throughout Alaska including the Alaskan bush communities, with applied hands-on science.

We collect, conserve research and interpret natural history materials and data and serve as a resource to the Alaskan community.

  • We really enjoyed this museum. My son loved the digging area and the gift shop and my daughter loved doing the quizzes and collecting a prize. Everyone who worked here was so friendly and helpful and great with kids.
  • This is a wonderful little museum, and unfortunately a bit of a secret. I’ve driven by this building a bunch of times without knowing what it was. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. The displays are intricate and there are tons of things for kids to touch. My favorite exhibit was the life-size pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling. This was my second time visiting this museum in a short time, and I still saw things today that I didn’t see the last time. Admission is very reasonable, and they have a really neat gift shop.
