Goldfield Ghost Town, Apache Junction

Get in touch with the spirit of the Old West at Goldfield Ghost Town, a historical former mining village brought back to life. When gold ore was discovered in the surrounding area in the 1890s, the boomtown quickly grew thanks to the influx of treasure-seekers and fortune-hunters heading out west. Though the town itself only really lasted about 5 years, you'll find that its saloons, shops, and other wooden buildings have been restored accurately. You can wander the streets and witness re-enactors dressed in period clothing taking part in daily activities and experience the occasional shootout (for show, of course), all while enjoying the mountainous Arizona landscape around you. Pay a visit to the saloon and restaurant to get a feel for the environment in which the town's residents would relax and interact. Be sure to check the website for information on special events and shows. • Great lil old Western town. Kind of commercialized but still a great place for adults and families. Great shops to visit with friendly staff.  more »

  • This was another treasure, super fun day and we were total tourists. The actors doing the gun fight were so fun. It was definitely a great tourist trap very much enjoyed by us Minnesotans. Definitely recommend going here. They have a great gift shop and bakery as well. and on the way home get one of their ice cream cones with homemade waffle cones. The smell was incredible and The taste was just as good.
  • Goldfield is definitely made to entertain tourists, and it does a good job of it! This ghost town is about 30 minutes from Mesa and easy to see from the road. It has lots of fun attractions that you can visit for quite reasonable prices. If you just want to look around at the shops and the buildings it’s free and you can still have fun. There are little shops with souvenirs, as well as a cafe and a steak house. Lots of things for kids as well as adults. The bathrooms were dirty and didn’t have toilet paper though. It was still an enjoyable time!
