This was spectacular! On this perfect October afternoon few things could outdo this. Though the colors were not quite peak, the splash of color was incredible. The drive to the top was nothing short..... more »
This park is kept so well. The camps are great (although you can hear/see quite a bit of road traffic). Bathrooms are awesome, it has a legitimate shower. There is free water all over the camping grounds and up the mountain (close to the top). There are also restrooms near the top of the mountain, but at the very top there is a port-a-potty. It costs money to drive up or ride your bike up, but if you are camping you can go up as many times as you like.
This is a great place to hike with little ones. Our 5 year old did really well on the hike to the summit. It's pretty short (less than 1.5 miles) but has a nice climb in elevation. We let our 1 year old walk the trail a bit where it was more flat. Great views from the top of the fire tower!
