New Belgium IPAs are our go-to beers at home, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to see their brewery and tasting room. The property is spotless-clean, right on the river and included riverside... more »
BEST TOUR EVER! And we just finished about 8 breweries/whiskey Distillery tours in Scotland! Our guide Glen (hope I got his name right) gave us a 90-minute tour, and man he’s like the best one man talkshow comedian! Absolutely enjoyed every second of it and 4 glasses of beer! It’s my first time trying SOUR beer and love it! Highly recommended!!!
This is just about the perfect bar. If you already love New Belgium beers, you’ll be in heaven when you see the tap selection. If you’re not familiar with them, I guarantee they’ll have a beer that you’ll soon be buying by the case. The brewery has a beautiful location, right on the French Broad, and they take full advantage of it with a large deck and patio area facing the water. However, the real standout during our trip to New Belgium was the 90-minute guided tour through the production facility. The tour is free, and you’ll learn about the company’s history, what it’s like to work at New Belgium, along with the brewing process and the origins of some of their most iconic beers. You also get to taste several of them, and that in itself is an experience. I also loved how our tour guide connected parts of the tour back to why Asheville was chosen for this brewery site. It was a peek behind the curtains at all the planning that goes into building and maintaining a successful brewery. While sampling Fat Tire, our tour guide told us that we were tasting beer that was brewed only two weeks ago! Outside of home brews, I can honestly say I’ve never had a beer that fresh, and you can taste the difference. Speaking of home brewers, you will want to fill out a job application by the time you finish the tour. New Belgium sounds like an amazing place to work. I honestly can’t say enough about our experience here; it has been the highlight of an already great trip.
