Assateague Lighthouse, Assateague Island

This historic lighthouse is a great place to visit. The hike up is fairly easy, however there is a steep hill which could be harder for some folks. As you approach from the trail, there is a moment when the lighthouse comes into view and it really is just perfect. There are plenty of photo opportunities around the lighthouse and there is a nice set of stationary binoculars to look through which provides a great opportunity to see the surrounding wildlife and area. It was definitely worth the stop and quick hike up to see this historic place.

This lighthouse was built around 1860’s. The parking is by the road and you have to hike a little up a small trail which is not too bad. There are stationary binoculars and we saw a few wild horses around 400 feet from the lighthouse.
