Sandy Creek Nature Center is a regional leader in environmental education. Walk-in visitors can enjoy our trails and natural history exhibits. Programs are available for families, school groups, scout troops, homeschoolers, and other groups. Public programming is offered for a variety of ages and on a wide range of topics. We also operate a 7-week American Camp Association- accredited day camp each summer.

In 2012, Sandy Creek Nature Center completed a major expansion funded by SPLOST and community partnership dollars. Over 4,000 square feet were added to the Education & Visitor Center, including new exhibits and a planetarium.

  • A true gem for Clarke County! The visitor's center offers educational content for all ages, but is tailored towards children. It also houses numerous animals, from a Loggerhead turtle to various local frogs and snakes. There are plenty of maps of all the facilities and trails inside and the restrooms are clean. The trails are fantastic and well maintained. The main trail right off of the visitor's center has lots of information for both children and adults about what you can find along the way. Sandy Creek is truly a wonderful place to learn about local conservation efforts and a nice place to spend the day.
  • My go to trail! We park here and walk into the trail. Very clean and safe. There's also an awesome kids playground with beautiful flowers. My husband and I have parked here and gone for a bike ride from here.
