Savannah Rapids Regional Visitor Information Center is located in the 33-acre passive recreational park which sites at the Headgates of the Historic Augusta Canal National Heritage Area.

The Lockkeepers Cottage houses the only State certified visitor center in Columbia County. Savannah Rapids Regional Visitor Information Center offers tourism information on Columbia County and tourism information on other locations in Georgia. A National Heritage Area stamp is available at the visitor center.

  • The trail head goes all the way down to Olmsted Lake. There’s a little swimming hole that is fed by two waterfalls. It’s a local place with a swing rope to go out into the swimming hole. What a great....  more »

  • stopped in here while visiting augusta. the lady working there was extremely friendly, i could have talked with her for hours! the locks area is a nice place to walk and look around.
