Create an itinerary including Independence Brewing Co
For the past 16 years Independence Brewing has served the Independent Thinkers & Drinkers of Texas. “Independence” is an invitation to come as you are and join an inclusive community of individuals united by a love of beer, Texas, and self expression. Our motley crew of 30 “black sheep” brew classics like Austin Amber, Stash IPA, and Native Texan Pilsner.

We call ourselves Grackles, aka the Black Sheep of Birds, because like grackles, our beers are loud, bold, and travel in packs. CAW!

  • First off, a huge thanks goes to James in the Taproom! We found--and trust me that's not as easy as you may think, but more on that in a minute--ourselves here after having a beer at Meanwhile...

  • Cool place to chill and have a craft brew. I had the Bourbon barrel aged Convct Hill. It's an imperial oatmeal stout that is smooth, chocolate-y, and strong. I recommend it if you love stout beer. The outdoor seating is nice in the shade. Food cart in front is tasty too.
  • Definitely one of the better breweries in Austin. Solid variety of flagship and seasonal brews. There's a food truck outside usually and some form of entertainment inside. Make sure you get a flight and find out which is your favorite!
