Get a good sense of President Johnson's character, intellect, and impact on the country at LBJ Presidential Library. The library houses millions of pages of historical documents. As you enter the lobby, the first thing you see is the President's limousine. Start from the top floor by walking through a replica of the Oval Office arranged as it was during Johnson's presidency. See a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, LBJ's three television sets, and his many books. Look for the desk on which the president signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. You can also see significant artifacts from the days surrounding the assassination of JFK. Look for a telephone in a corner to listen to conversations concerning this historic event. • Very nicely presented with lots of interesting information about LBJ. Could spend many hours there to take everything in.  more »
  • I thought it was curious because I was expecting a library, but it's a museum depicting the life of the vice president who took over the presidency after Kennedy's death. Curious fact, in the hall where he presents the photos of the first ladies, I've never seen an ugly picture of Jacqueline Kennedy as it is there. She looks like a haunting. The wicked would say it's for her not to Overshine Lyndon B Johnson's wife. Rs

  • Grandpa's Garage Studio 7 suggests to get over here and get happy. When we know then we can say yes or no, only we can give power in this field. Be thankful and kind to others, only we determine our own behavior and truth. When we embrace all in love, we have all the power born in water as light we control all ions; Believe and know truth, Intent +Ions- = super powers= human birth right.
  • This is, of course, a love affair with LBJ, but there was a lot to love. A truly great man, and this is an homage to him. But even if you don't like LBJ, the historical artifacts are mind-boggling. So many original documents and items, that it is really an education. Like many museums, if you really want to read everything, it would take you an entire day. But you really want to budget between 2 and 3 hours. It closes at 5 p.m. and they chase you out of there right at 5. We got there at 4 and didn't really get a chance to explore the top floor at all. We just had an opportunity to run through it. That floor is devoted to their life in the White House. You will especially enjoy it if you lived during this era, as it brings back so many memories. It is really beautifully done, and a must-see for a stay in Austin.
