Kite Club Hatteras, Hatteras Island

#3 of 9 in Adventure in Hatteras Island
Surfing / Windsurfing / Kitesurfing · Boat Tour
Kite Club Hatteras is in full swing, offering kiteboarding lessons, accommodations and good times in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Kite Club Hatteras’s certified IKO instructors teach kiteboarding according to the International Kiteboarding Organization’s methodology and have seen all levels of kiteboarders come through and progress with the program. The new Kite Club Hatteras boat has brought the school’s lessons to an increased level of ease and safety by taking students to the best locations for learning and for assisted downwinders once students get up on and riding on the board and traveling downwind.

Staying at the Kite Club Hatteras house is a great way to meet new people and immerse yourself in the global kiteboarding community. You are made to feel “at home” in the easy going, friendly atmosphere, of the house with organized group dinners and outings. The house boasts a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living area and clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Located in Avon there are several kiting spots within a five minute drive and the canal access to the sound can get you onto the water even faster by boat.

  • Christo was awesome. The house and Kite lessons were great. He got me up kite surfing in 8-9 hours and I’m 59 years old. Thanks Christo!!  more »

  • Update March 2019: Stayed for a weekend and they've done some nice renovations: new floors, paint, and some work in the kitchen. Also had a great foiling lesson in Oct '18. I've stayed several times, most recently in April of 2016. A great place to stay whether you're interested in wind sports or just looking for a friendly and relaxed place to bunk. Seems like every time I go I meet some new and interesting people and have way more fun than if I just stayed in a hotel. I've had several great kite-surfing lessons there, too.
  • We absolutely loved our experience at Sea Star over the holidays! My wife and I and our four teenagers had plenty of room to move around, relax and be comfortable. The kitchen, decks and rooms were very spacious, and the privacy of the 'hidden lot' couldn't have been nicer! Melissa and Christo were amazing hosts, and even sent back a jacket we had left behind. I would highly recommend Sea Star for some quiet time on the coast away from the crowds =]
