  • My personal favorite. The colors are so beautiful. You can easily walk up the mound to left of pullover. If you’re up for something slightly more challenging, there’s a path you can hike up and around the mounds and to the top of the two directly in front of the pullover. Great view and worth it. • As you approach the Yellow Mound Overlook (the next overlook on our list), you will drive through vibrantly colored yellow hills. There is a turnout here where you can safely park your car and get out to enjoy the view. The yellow color comes from fossil soils, called paleosols, that have weathered and changed color when exposed to the sun.
