  • This area is smaller than mesquite flat sand dunes, but the dunes are much larger. There's a flat easy walk to the bottom of the dunes, parking is located at 35°41'42.0"N 116°23'36.1"W with a small sign. To get the the parking area you need to drive from the south on the unpaved Saratoga Springs Rd it's not too difficult. We drove on a AWD Nissan Rogue but I feel even a FWD vehicle may do the job if you drive slowly. Nice area, not a ton of people due to the relative remote location than other Death Valley NP destinations.
  • The dunes are a bit out of the way. You can access via the south using the Harry Wade Road and get there with 2wd or from the north from Ibex Springs with 4wd. I would definately suggest hiking between the dunes to the mining operation on the back side, it is very impressive.
