Sherwood Gardens is a 6-acre (24,000 m2) park located in the Guilford neighborhood of Northern Baltimore, Maryland. The gardens are bordered by East Highfield, Underwood, Stratford and Greenway Roads. In addition to well-groomed, standard ground cover (azaleas, evergreens, etc...), Sherwood Gardens is famous for its nearly 80,000 tulips that peak in late April. After the tulips finish blooming, the Tulip Dig occurs on the Saturday of Memorial Day each year. Anyone can dig up and purchase the tulip bulbs.

The park is maintained and managed by Stratford Green, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization.

  • This is a hidden gem in Baltimore. Some of the surrounding neighborhoods are scary so don't stray too far but the immediate area is beautiful.  more »
  • What a beautiful park! Loved walking around here with my boyfriend on my birthday. I would have loved it if there were benches so we could sit down once in a while.
  • It's springtime. Even though the weather does not feel like it. We found a community garden located not far from John Hopkins university in Baltimore, Md., that is a perfect hideaway from city life. There is a major open air green space with thousands if blooming daffodils and other bulbs. At my time of visit, the tulips were not blooming. There are trees that the children are climbing and benches for reflection. Bring a picnic basket and blanket, your children and dogs and spend some time outside. Enjoy the smells of the flowers and live life.
