Take a pleasant stroll through the woods on Compass Harbor Trail and visit the ruins of an old farm estate that once belonged to one of Acadia's founders, George Dorr. Close to downtown Bar Harbor, this short and easy walk ends at a granite outcropping, which provides views over Frenchman Bay and the distant Porcupine Islands. From there, you can access a beach, although the walk down involves a bit of scrambling over large rocks. Note that dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash.
