Circus World, Baraboo

4.4
Part museum and part live entertainment, Circus World both presents its colorful history as the original home of the famous Ringling Brothers Circus and continues this tradition with shows and performances today. Walk through an exhibit of 50 restored antique circus wagons in the W.W. Deppe Waggon Pavillion and make sure to look through the circus-related photographs and books in the Robert L. Parkinson Library and Research Centre. There are many daily shows that include live animals, acrobats and contortionists, cyclists, clowns, and an illusionist. Kids and adults alike will love this old-fashioned fun. Plan to visit Circus World during your Baraboo vacation using our convenient Baraboo day trip planning site .

  • Had such a great time!! It's difficult to hold our family's attention span but we arrived at 10 a.m. and stayed until 3:30 p.m. and were not bored for a second. Love all of the shows and appropriate seating available for the shows. Definitely come with cash handy for the food (glad I read that from someone else's review). The food is great for a meal and snacks. Quite a variety from chili cheese dogs to burgers and brats. Staff was all very friendly and there were always shuttles traveling for anyone to take around the park. We can't wait to return!
  • I have 6 kids and have been here twice. We have the Historical Society membership which makes this especially affordable. We love our experience here, it is small enough to not feel overwhelmed and can take our time going to the different shows and exhibits. We spent about 5 hours here and brought our own lunch and ate by the car. We also had Ice cream and cotton candy and it gave a fun food break. I would recommend getting there early so you don't miss some of the shows.
  • It was smaller than I had imagined, but was SO interesting! The music show, using the historical circus instruments is in the morning and is only done once. Don't miss it! It's worth seeing and is very fun! The trailers and train cars are authentic and I really felt like I was learning so much about the history of a time gone by. The performers were great; not show-stopping Vegas-style, but clean and fun for the whole family. The elephants were impressive! Be sure and sit up close for the big top show! The elephant rides are only offered for a short time period and are $10 (extra from your ticket). The merry go round, pony rides, and pics with a giant pig are all extra too. They are ALL ok, not must-do's, but just be aware they only take cash and are extra. Loved the stories and history. Made me sad the circus is nearly no more......
  • a national treasure and a hidden gem. great fun for the entire family no matter the age. Live shows and (at least when we went)--live tigers. It does sit on both sides of the river, and has some very scenic views. They do have shuttles (huge golf carts) to move around if you have problems walking. What they are doing is amazing and preserving live entertainment and the arts, the history and the sounds of the circus. Plenty of buildings to explore that contain history of entertainers who made their living in the circus. Also see many historic wagons, many which have been restored on site. easy 10-15 min drive from the Dells and about an hour to Madison.
  • Wow. This is a must see place!!! My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here today. The circus show was so fun and had a good variety of acts. We loved how intimate the area is -- you get to be so close to all the live action. The parade wagons were awesome. We loved the museums and learning more about the history of the circus. Seriously, if you're considering visiting this place -- go! My kids are 11, 9, 4, and 2...we ALL had a great time! We spent five hours here. Make sure to bring cash for the concessions (popcorn and cotton candy!) so you can enjoy your treats during the shows. There's an ATM on site, but it's clear back where you purchase your admission tickets and you'll not want to walk back there get cash out. Thanks Circus World for entertaining us today.
