Must see · State Park · Nature / Park
Hike, fish, and boat in the idyllic setting of Devil's Lake State Park. The lake was uncovered when a glacier retreated many years ago. Walk up the quartzite bluffs surrounding the water and enjoy the view. Head to the nature center to learn about the history of the park and see displays of rocks and artifacts. You'll camp in the conifer forest of the Baraboo Hills. Campsites feature restrooms, and snacks and basic necessities are available at the Ice Age campground. You can rent a boat by the lake and pick up tackle, poles, and camping gear at the stores on the north and south end of the park. The proceeds from the stores go toward maintaining the park. • Fabulous place! Good for a nice scenic family walk or a challenging climb. I only sweat that much when I’m kickboxing so it was a great workout! A little slippery after rain though so better to go on....  more »
  • Best Park In the state. Devils Lake is a must see, once in a life time experience. Seriously. The quartzite rock is unique to Devils Lake and you won’t find anything like it in the world. Multiple hiking trails for all ages and levels. Check out Balanced Rock and you may even see rock climbers down below. Perfect Fall activity- will definitely come back again.
  • We had a great hike! The first incline got our hearts pumping and the view of the lake was amazing. We could have been anywhere in the world. Devil's staircase was harder than we expected, but so cool when we got to the top. This hike was so much fun..... beautiful scenery... great exercise... and there wasn't a lot of people there at the time we were. Go check it out. It's so worth it.
