The museum will be permanently housed in the USS Edson, a retired United States Navy destroyer that has recently been converted to a museum. The museum is located in Bay City, Michigan, United States. The man responsible for this destroyer being opened for a museum is Mike Kegley, the president of the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum, who has worked on the project for the last fifteen years. • The USS Edson is well loved by her Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum crew. Volunteers do regular hard work providing maintenance. Groups can arrange for overnight stays, however, the head (restroom for the landlubber) is located on the pier. A small fee is required to take a self guided tour. Take your time going through the ship, as ladders (think steep stairs) can be a challenge if one is not ready.
  • We had a personal tour, we got there late because Google sent us on the wrong side of the water and miles away. But Mr Collins offered to take us on board and show us around and I mean a 2 hour tour. He was so knowledgeable we couldn't keep up with the info. It was awesome.
