Climb to the top of Hunting Island Lighthouse for views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding marshes. Built in 1859 to warn ships to stay far away from nearby sandbars, wrecks, and treacherous currents, the lighthouse is the only one in the state still open to the public. The lighthouse has a height restriction, so kids might not be able to climb to the top. The climb features many steps as well as rest areas along the way.   • We stopped here to see the lighthouse, have a picnic lunch and walk the beach. It was a beautiful day for late October so the beach was actually a bit crowded and finding a parking spot took a bit of....  more »
  • We came when there was a cold snap so the weather was not great. Cold, rainy, windy and overcast. We walked up the beach to the lighthouse and paid the fair price of $2 each to climb the 167 steps to....  more »
  • I love the lighthouse. Had to pay to get Into the park. The drive in this park is different from most forested parks. Plenty of parking, picnic areas and the beach. Cost $2 to climb the lighthouse and there is a gift shop there also. Clean restrooms near by. Great views from the top.
  • Sign says see attendant to go up. Unfortunately they must have been closed. I would have liked to have seen the views. Wonderful little park area. Well maintained with great pavilions. Only a short walk from the parking lot and the beach.
