Elephant Rocks State Park is a state-owned geologic reserve and public recreation area encompassing an outcropping of Precambrian granite in the Saint Francois Mountains in the U.S. state of Missouri. The state park is named for a string of large granite boulders which resemble a train of pink circus elephants. The park was created following the donation of the land to the state in 1967 by geologist Dr. John Stafford Brown. The park is used for picnicking, rock climbing, and trail exploration. It is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

  • Great place for hiking, rock climbing, and all around outdoor fun. Three lakes surround the park and there is a great paved trail around the inside of them. Along the trail you will find a water fountain and many benches, in case you need to take a break. Don't miss out on this amazing geologic wonder located just under two hours from St Louis. Park closes at 6pm so best to get an early start.
  • This place was so beautiful and fun. The rocks were crazy cool to be around and play on. The lake was beautiful, (I wish they had swimming). They view was wondering. And they also have a food truck, so after about an hour of climbing rocks you can get a bite to eat. I had the pulled pork nachos with all the toppings and a key lime snow cone. I thought it was a little pricey at first but it’s worth it the nachos are very large with a lot of meat and cheese and the snow cone was so yummy. I was not disappointed, 10/10 would recommend especially to family’s (they have a small park and lots of picnic tables)
