Elephant Rocks State Park is a state-owned geologic reserve and public recreation area encompassing an outcropping of Precambrian granite in the Saint Francois Mountains in the U.S. state of Missouri. The state park is named for a string of large granite boulders which resemble a train of pink circus elephants. The park was created following the donation of the land to the state in 1967 by geologist Dr. John Stafford Brown. The park is used for picnicking, rock climbing, and trail exploration. It is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

  • Our family enjoyed this park so much! The rocks are beautiful and fun to explore. Definitely worth a stop! There was a playground and a nice picnic area too.

  • Really cool place! Definitely need to go at least once.... especially if you are in area. The view at the top is spectacular!!!! I believe you can either take a trail to the top or you can take the hard way and climb up to the Elephant rock🐘. I would recommend NOT going on a super hot day because it does make the experience not as enjoyable. Lastly, they also have picnic tables at the bottom which is handy!
  • This place was amazing. It had a lot of shaded trails. You don't feel too hot while walking on those trails even during midday. It had clean bathrooms. It had several interesting rock formations. There were plenty of parking spaces.. Definitely a fun place to go.
