Mike Newman is the creative force behind both the castle and the bakery bearing his name.

Since exploring Europe in his early 20’s, he had the dream to build his own castle, and has made that a reality in the Bellville countryside. Exhibiting the same hard work and determination that built his successful bakery of nearly three decades, Mike broke ground on his mighty fortress in 1998.

“In the beginning…people thought I was crazy,” Mike revealed in an interview with Texas Live Magazine. Ten years later, Mike can truly say that he is king of his own castle. “It makes people happy. They leave with restored faith that they can do anything.”

We had such a great time! Worth the drive. He literally let's you go all over the castle! The best was climbing to the roof of the bell tower! Must visit!!!! more »

I recently went with a group to Newman's Castle and I loved it! It is worth every penny! Mike Newman, the owner, is very informative, willing to answer any questions, has good food (lunch AND at his bakery, Newman's Bakery). I would like to thank you King Newman for opening up your home and castle to us. I took lots of pictures, even got one with the king himself. Hopefully I will be able to upload some of them here.

One of my favorite breakfast destinations! Great place to have a breakfast of eggs, bacon and super tasty toast, matched with excellent baked goods. And you have to take some home with you! Their pastries are delicious! And they have day old product for sale and you just can't go wrong!
