Barkcamp State Park is a state park located in Belmont County, Ohio, United States, near the village of Belmont. It includes of land. The 117acre lake located in the park is actually called Belmont Lake and was once considerably smaller than its present day predecessor. The Barkcamp Creek, the namesake for the park, once ran through the area until the dam was completed in 1963, thus reducing the outflow of water. The area once housed a logging camp where logs were stripped of bark in preparation for delivery to the mill. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources began land acquisition for the park in 1955 and developed the property into a fishing and game reserve. Today the park houses over 150 campsites (including equestrian facilities), miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, basketball courts, boat ramps, beach, as well as other recreational sites. The park ranger once lived on the site and the house still stands inside the park today.

  • This was a very nice campground, we were very pleased with our cabin and it had some great hiking trails. The only complaint we had were the pit latrines, they are just about as gross at you can imagine, smell wise. I would definitely recommend camping here, just invest in a portable toilet to bring along!
  • Great local state park with beach access. Summer days sitting under green trees with wind blowing off the lake, add in a hot dog BBQ on the provided iron grills and fishing with night crawlers from the bait shop for blue gill! Its an all American day at the state park. Thank you Ohio park services!
