The Deschutes Historical Museum is located in historic Reid School, downtown Bend and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are closed Sunday-Monday, as well as Christmas and New Years Day.

Sharing the History of Bend and Deschutes County, the Des Chutes Historical Museum is dedicated to the heritage of Deschutes County. Encompassing Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Tumalo, Sisters and Terrebonne, discover why this has always been a great place to live and play.

  Volunteer staff were very friendly and informative. Good displays and information on the history of the area, we quite liked the notice warning not to put a naked flame to the Edison electric light.  more »

  My 2 hour visit was very interesting. Nice displays! I will definitely return with my reading glasses so I can better view photos. Pleasant staff. Parking was scant. Sidewalk was well maintained during snow days.

  Spent a lot of time here. Those curious about the finer details of life in the early 20th century will appreciate every item here. The staff is well informed and very friendly. I forgot to sign the guest book! Next time.
