At Kartchner Caverns State Park, you'll discover a 3.9 km (2.4 mi) long limestone cave, with formations that have accumulated for over 50,000 years. The cave is known for some of the world's longest "soda straw" stalactites, an 18 m (58 ft) tall column, and a room with the world's most extensive formation of moonmilk--a white and creamy cave substance. Visit the 2,100 sq m (23,000 sq ft) visitor center, where you'll hear about the geology, the bat population, and the paleontology of these caverns. There are picnic places and camp sites in the area. Check at the visitor center to be sure the caves are open--at certain times during summer the caverns are closed because bats colonize them. So very interesting. Staff is very friendly and willing to help. Loved the place and know we will return The big map is short one additional cave. Everyone should go to Lewis and Clark Caverns in Montana. There are also many other other interesting to see throughout the state. LEWIS AND CLARK CAVERNS.
This is hands down one of the most incredible parks and overall experiences I've ever had. The execution on the public facing side of the tours was so well coordinated and accessible it is hard to even believe. I brought my two kids who are both little and they had no problem with the whole tour. The guides, the shuttle up to the cave, the pathways and walkways, I mean seriously absolute accolades to the staff and those who developed and created this park. This is a model attraction not just for Arizona but for the entire national park system. I know there aren't many pictures of the tour due to restrictions on cameras, but not only can pictures not do these caves Justice but the surprises that a way make this quite a hidden gem for Arizona
