Strathmore, Bethesda

Theater · Concert / Show
Strathmore is a cultural and artistic venue and institution in North Bethesda, Maryland, United States. Strathmore was founded in 1981 and consists of two venues: the Mansion and the Music Center.

It is the home to hundreds of performances and events per year presented by Strathmore Hall Foundation, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic, Levine Music, City Dance, interPLAY Orchestra, and others.

The Strathmore arts complex is connected to an upper floor of the parking garage at the Grosvenor-Strathmore Washington Metro station via an elevated pedestrian walkway, the Carlton R. Sickles Memorial Sky Bridge, named after late Congressman Carlton R. Sickles. The complex is thus accessible for patrons coming from Washington, D.C., as well as the northern part of Montgomery County, Maryland via the Metro rail system.

  • Stunning performance space just outside Washington DC. I have only heard classical music performances there but they have all been excellent: top-tier musicians and an acoustic balanced hall. Directly on the Metro's Red Line, but there's also ample inexpensive parking if you must drive.
  • An absolutely beautiful and nice venue. The wife and I saw the Russian Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker and were very impressed with the venue. Honestly every seat is pretty decent so dont worry too much about your view if you get a cheap ticket. They also have valet service which was great since when we went it was raining. However, the same area that they valet cars, lots of people just drop off at so there may be a line backed up to get in.
