  • This review is actually from a while back and I never posted one, so here goes. From the Chisos Basin to the Falls is a nice hike like 5.5 miles each way, great views, keep your camera ready. I took this trail in the fall and came across a nice large black bear up on the Windows Trail fattening up for winter. The hike down the Oak Trail is very cool since there are some nice views looking west/SW over towards the Rio Grande in the distance. Don’t recommend sneakers on this trail unless you are wearing Altra shoes which have great grip and stability. The falls are great but at the time I hiked it there was a blatant sign that stated “The Falls are not for Swimming” since it is drinking water for one of the communities. Knowing this, the Park should have set up a pump with a hose attachment for cooling off. This would prevent people jumping in and contaminating the pool. I never went in, I respected the sign. It did not stop me from cooling off though :).. From the Basin Lodge it is an awesome day hike. Highly recommend this hike to anyone I know.
  • recently went to the falls, it’s was gorgeous. however, if you park on the main road, be ready to walk around 8 miles round trip. the falls are next to mountain, so it’s a ways. secluded hike tho, makes it worth it. did not see any wildlife on our way.
