The Balanced Rock, Big Bend National Park

Easy but amazing hike! It made me feel like I was transported to Jurassic Park. Getting there was the hardest park, you had to drive on about 6 miles of unpaved road. Make sure you have a 4x4 car with good clearance. The hike itself mostly flat until you have to climb up on the boulders which was not very bad. There’s no shade so make sure wear sunscreen or dress accordingly. There were plenty of parkings at the trailhead.

Very much worth the hike, beautiful views at the end. You are in the sun the whole time, we were hot in the dead of winter. Do with that information what you will. The rock climbing at the end may be difficult for those not so surefooted hikers.
