Lee State Park, Bishopville

Overall a decent park. The campground was average. It seemed more suited for the horses & their owners, than campers. The pond is on the small side & we didn't catch anything,even though the park ranger said it was well-stocked. We didn't swim but walked past the swimming area. Not a very big area for swimming & very shallow. The artisan wells were quaint and rustic and the boardwalk was relatively new. If the park charged a small entrance fee like other SC parks, then maybe they could get some new picnic tables and update the restrooms. It was very inexpensive to camp there. They were having a 1/2 off sale, so our two night stay totaled $17. This low price is why Lee State Park is getting two stars instead of only one.

If you are looking for a natural spot to cool off at, it doesn't get more natural than this. It also doesn't get more desolate than this, so if you have never been, bring lots of bug spray, food and water. And, no, you will not find many places to charge electronics. Be careful pulling to the side of the road. Keep a close eye out for turtles and other wildlife first....after all you are a visitor in their house; Be respectful.
