The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement was founded in July 1989 to bring together the material history of life in Calhoun County and the Florida Panhandle between the 1820s and the 1940s. Back then, Blountstown was a bustling community that relied heavily on commerce carried along the Apalachicola River, also known as the "Big River." Today, the Settlement has 18 buildings of historical significance, as well as exhibits and collections. New pieces of history are added every year!

  • This would be a great trip for any history lover. The buildings were brought in from the local area and are filled with original time period artifacts. It would be easy to spend 2 hours on a tour...

  • This place is wonderful. A real piece of history. Some buildings were relocated from other places to preserve their heritage. The staff is wonderful and informative. Absolutely love their demeanor and hospitality. I was not charged for a self guided tour. I donated anyway as I prefer self guided over crowds being a Veteran with PTSD and Agoraphobia. Definitely recommend visits during their events as well as less busy times. A lot of fun. Restrooms on site.
  • This is an awesome fun outing . We was here for Keepers of the old ways event. Lots of great knowledge shared. The buildings are all in good shape now. Love the fact that the log cabins are mostly staffed by family relationship. Lots of pride & care given. So worth the visit.
