Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum, Bon Aqua

#88 of 210 in Museums in Tennessee
Art Museum · History Museum
Located a short drive west of Nashville on I-40, this was the place Johnny Cash used to escape from public life. Now the Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum in Bon Aqua, TN is a must-stop for anyone interested in knowing more about the man behind the country music icon, as well as the region’s rich history.

Visitors will tour the hideaway home - built before the Civil War by the prominent Weems family - that Johnny Cash called the center of his universe for over 30 years, and will learn so much more about the man behind the legend. Mini concerts happen throughout the day, with our talented in-house musicians. Afterward, visitors will be able to tour the Farm itself, seeing things such as Johnny’s own vineyard, the barn, and the car shed, where we house several vehicles including the famous One Piece At A Time Cadillac.

We recommend allowing at least one-and-a-half hours for the visit. Visits are self-guided and untimed, and visitors are welcome to savor the peaceful and serene 8-acre field.

  • I visited Storytrellers Museum a couple of weeks ago. This is where I met Mark Alan Cash. He made feel very much at home. We talked about his uncle Johnny Cash and he showed me some pictures and we talked about the history of The Little Stage. This place is very peaceful and relaxing. It's intimate settings makes this a great place to hear live music. I will definitely be visiting this place again.
  • Absolutely best place we visited in Nashville. So worth the drive. Such a serene and peaceful place and filled with personal information about Johnny Cash. It was so nice to talk to his nephew Mark Alan and just visit like we were pet of the family. I also loved the handmade jewelry from Shelbi Cash. It’s unique and beautiful.
