The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate (also known as the Kennedy Institute) is a non-profit civic engagement and educational institution on Columbia Point in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, next to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on the University of Massachusetts Boston campus. Named for long-time U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, the Institute contains a full-scale reproduction of the United States Senate Chamber, a replica of Kennedy’s Washington, D.C. office, and digital exhibits. The organization includes the Kennedy Home in Hyannis Port, which was donated to the Institute in 2012 as part of a "mission of educating the public about the U.S. government, invigorating public discourse, emphasizing the importance of bipartisanship, and inspiring the next generation of citizens and leaders to engage in the public square."

  • I know that politics may sound dry at the outset, but honestly, this was such a refreshing, hands on way to learn about and experience how the Senate works. The museum is a wonderful and fitting...

  • Each time I'm in Boston (twice a year), I need at least one day to enjoy the activities at the Institute and the JFK Library. I'm a member of both for several years. Because we need this history...

  • We traveled here with a large group of 8th grade students today and The Kennedy Institute organized an incredible learning experience for us!! From walking into the life size replica of the US Senate, to breakout groups where we learned how our Senate works to represent us--start to finish, students were all highly engaged. Their knowledgeable educators created an environment where everyone was given the opportunity to learn something new. Well designed experience and cannot recommend it enough!
  • Great museum. I would highly recommend for people who are interested in history, politics, and, government.
