Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge was established on June 8, 1951. The refuge protects threatened and endangered species and migratory birds, maintains unique Everglades habitat, and provides compatible educational and recreational facilities.
The refuge is open to the public from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. The visitor center is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We went here 3 times when we visited Delray for a week. It is wonderful to walk around and see the swamp land and the wildlife. Very interesting to visit. more »

The canoe and kayak rental is very reasonable, no reservation needed, and it’s a lot of fun - we got there just when they opened at 10, went on a partly cloudy day in the 70s, and did about an hour... more »

Beautiful place! Nice boardwalk trail near visitor's center plus longer birdwatching trail across the street. Have seen rare birds, turtles, alligators. Always very pleasant. Restrooms near visitor center. $5 admittance.

I was hearing random gunfire while leaving but other than that the experience was nice and calm, as I would advise with any park in Florida with swamp area is bug spray. If only they would provide it that would be nice. Still very nice open area with trails
