Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge was established on June 8, 1951. The refuge protects threatened and endangered species and migratory birds, maintains unique Everglades habitat, and provides compatible educational and recreational facilities.
The refuge is open to the public from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. The visitor center is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Called to verify the rental of kayaks. There was a recorded message that they are no longer renting kayaks and all the kayaks and canoes are for sale. Huge disappointment. more »
Bring your best camera(s) and lens(es)! This NWR is interesting in several ways. There's a very nice, completely shaded cypress swamp boardwalk trail. It's fairly short, but take your time and walk... more »
Beautiful place! Nice boardwalk trail near visitor's center plus longer birdwatching trail across the street. Have seen rare birds, turtles, alligators. Always very pleasant. Restrooms near visitor center. $5 admittance.
I was hearing random gunfire while leaving but other than that the experience was nice and calm, as I would advise with any park in Florida with swamp area is bug spray. If only they would provide it that would be nice. Still very nice open area with trails
