New York Botanical Garden nurtures 50 different gardens and thousands of different plant species over more than 100 hectares (250 acres). Founded in 1891 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the gardens today represent one of New York's premier tourist attractions. You can wander through the herbarium, rock garden, an ornate vintage greenhouse, and even a research library containing more than half a million volumes. Don't miss what is perhaps one of the site's most notable sections: 20 hectares (50 acres) of original old-growth forest along the Bronx River, dating from before the European colonization of North America. Check the garden's schedule of events for information on temporary exhibits and special offers. We went for the orchid show, but also toured most of the gardens. This was our second visit. Even though the orchid show itself was pretty crowded, the larger gardens didn't feel busy in the least...

I am an avid photographer, so I loved visiting the New York Botanical Garden. There were so many photo ops here. We also got to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit when we traveled here. Great...

A LITTLE HIDDEN GEM IN THE BRONX! I love coming here. When I come here I get to enjoy all that beauty has to offer. Even throughout the pandemic, it was open for our enjoyment. All of the staff at NYBG are so kind and caring. It is a great place to visit to watch birds, butterflies and take pictures to enjoy for years to come. Highly recommend visiting at least 4 times a year; once for each season - in order for you to see the vast changes in the environment and to marvel at the beautiful display of natures art! This spot is more than just a garden, it is an outdoor classroom.Parents, take your kids here, teach them about nature, and teach them to respect our beautiful planet.
One of the best places to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even when it gets crowded, there is always a place where you can find serenity among nature. There's always something interesting to see even in the winter. The rock garden is probably something that is overlooked by many but is a lovely and serene nook. The food is incredibly overpriced, so feel free to bring your own snacks and eat at one of the several picnic tables that they have available.
