  • I first visited the manor house at Chinsegut in 1971 and it has changed very little in the ways that are important to me. Just walking around the grounds is all I need to get my Chinsegut fix.  more »

  • This is a beautiful piece of history. The manor is currently closed for repairs, I was told it is scheduled to reopen in September. The property features large plantation mansion with the most wonderful wraparound porch on the top and bottom floors. The top floor of the home hosts a museum with so much history, artifacts, letters and more. Many of the rooms have original furniture and decor. The property also has 7 cottages that each sleep 8. They have a living room, kitchen, dining room and 4 rooms with 2 twin beds. Each room had it's own bathroom. There is also a dining hall with a commercial kitchen, fire pit and classroom with a 100+ capacity. But to me, the stand out is the oak trees. 2 main trees have been named and hold great historical significance, but the property is glittered with stunning oaks and other plants. It would be a perfect location for a wedding or any other event. Looking forward to visiting again.
  • Take time to eat lunch at Chinsegut Hill. Reservations are required. The food was well prepared. The staff did a great job. After lunch we took part in the tour of the house. It was nice to see the mansion restored. The grounds are well kept, and offer great views of the area. A great place if you are interested in local history.
