Bryce Canyon National Park

4.7
Hiking Trails · Lookouts · Geologic Formations
You can find hoodoos--rock pillars formed by erosion--all around the world, but those of Bryce Canyon National Park remain the standard bearers thanks to their bright red color, tall stature, and arrangement in large amphitheaters. Bryce remains relatively isolated because of its south-central Utah location, which limits visitors and provides uncrowded views. The park also sits at a high altitude: the highest part, Rainbow Point, reaches 2,775 m (9,105 ft). A paved road snakes for 29 km (18 mi) through the park, delivering sweeping vistas of the gigantic and magnificent rock statues. Hiking and horseback riding provide alternative ways of sightseeing in the park if you prefer not to spend your time behind the wheel. Take stress off the schedule by using our United States day trip tool.
