Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House Complex, Buffalo

4.8
Built between 1903 and 1905, Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House Complex is a masterpiece from the architect's early career. The Martin family commissioned the house and developed a long-standing friendship with Wright, even offering financial support as his career began to take off. Designed during Wright's Prairie School era, the six-structure complex includes the main house, a house built for Martin's sister and her husband, a pergola, a conservatory, a stable, and a gardener's cottage. The house is in the Parkside East Historic District. Reservations are recommended for the variety of tours available. • Always wanted to see this beautiful location but never thought I’d have a reason to be in the area. Our son was in school at West Virginia U so while visiting him took a short scenic drive to Ohiopyle and Falling Water. Absolutely worth it! The grounds are gorgeous and great historical home. Took some of the hiking trails to the overlook too. Rough but fantastic views. Highly recommend!
  • A must see for architecture, design, and Frank Lloyd Wright fans. The tour guides were knowledgeable and went in-depth into the history of the home. You are able to really see the masters work up close and experience the craftsmanship that went into building this iconic home. We were only able to do the 1-hour lower level tour and would definitely come back to see the upper floors. It’s a must see in Buffalo!
