  This is the first time we've actually seen Elk in the wild, it was great, i took lots of photos, and you could hear them making the loud almost roaring noise, they looked fabulous. Its also a great.....  more »

  Interesting natural reserve nestled on the west side of the Central Valley of Ca. There's lots of picnic tables, with shade, large cottonwood trees, and a viewing platform for observing the elk. Unfortunately, there were no elk visible the day I visited! There's also a visitor center, and flush toilets are available. This is also a good place for bird watching. $8 daily use/parking fee, open 8AM to Sunset, but you can usually get in before 8AM.

  It was a very peaceful spot for a picnic lunch. Just bring high powered binoculars if you want to see the elk, there were a few but probably almost a mile away from viewing platform.
