Lake Tahoe, California

4.7
#3 of 49 in Winter Sports in California
The long shoreline of Lake Tahoe offers a family-friendly resort atmosphere on its California side, and a vibrant nightlife of high-rise casinos on the Nevada side. One of the country’s deepest bodies of water (measuring 501 m [1,645 ft] at maximum depth), the lake is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and offers a range of activities throughout the warmer months of the year, including swimming, boating, kayaking, windsurfing, hiking, and camping. Winter brings lots of snow, transforming the mountain slopes surrounding the lake into popular ski and snowboarding destinations. You can start your day backpacking through the wilderness around the lake and end your evening with a meal and a show at a casino hotel in nearby Reno. • Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful Lakes in the United States. Lots to do in the local area and Parks. Everything from shopping, great restaurants, casinos, beaches, you can rent snowmobiles in the winter, skiing, golfing, to name a few! You can also find every kind of overnight accommodations. • Beautiful place, there many ways to get to the lake. Park anywhere along the route, do look for specific parking signs to avoid citation. Before 11am after 3pm are the best times, especially during fall and spring break time.
